This call will follow up on the May 3, 2010 Tribal Conference Call as well as go over the Forest Service’s draft approaches to the Planning Rule. It is also expected that call will also address topics that are specific to the Forest Service’s relationship to Tribes, such as the government-to-government consultation process, the incorporation of native knowledge in drafting land management plans and measures for watershed protection. Documents and agenda related to the Conference call are at the website listed below.
This call is in addition to the 4th National Round Table Scheduled for July 29-30, 2010. Tribes and tribal communities are urged to participate in both.

The National Planning Rule is THE framework for all National Forest Management Plans. The revision will direct how hundreds of forest land management plans, covering many ancestral forests where Tribes retain treaty rights and trust resources, will be developed. PLEASE PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROCESS TO ENSURE TRIBAL CONCERNS AND INTERESTS ARE HEARD.
